Research
My research focuses mostly on personal relationships and the goods that these relationships make available to us. In my PhD thesis, I was concerned with understanding what may compromise access to various relationship goods, or cause inequalities in their distribution. Additionally, I considered the role that the state, society and individuals might play in remedying situations of difficult or unequal access. In doing so, I also focused on the ways in which our personal relationships are affected by wider social phenomena like social norms and stereotypes and moral phenomena like leniency.
Out of my PhD came four papers on:
-
Social norms and the unequal distribution of parental love
-
The value of leniency in loving relationships
-
Friendship with people with serious moral vices
-
The moral relevance of children's being children
